Default Where's the RED LINE...8900, 9000, 9100

Ok no flames if this has been asked i did a search and got a million non related threads about redline and rev limiter. Any way It is impossible to tell with the stock guage....When I go up to 8900 it flashes five or six times...so where am I. On my vafc I have done shifts at 9050 and 9040 still with not hitting the rev limiter. I have a limiter cause I have hit it.....Before my vafc was installed. Anyway I haven't hit it recently and I really don't want to. So i was wondering if anyone knew. I've seen post where people say it 8900 and the the mugen ecu brings it to 9000. Is my vafc wrong? Does anyone else get five or six flashes when ya pass 8900 rpm. According to my own observations the stock rpm guage is way off by a few hundred rpm. Wheres the redline?

Check the picture on page 47 of the owners' manual. At least that's the page for the '00 manual.

8900 rpm is the redline
Is that where the rev limiter hits? So my vafc is wrong?

The highest my VAFC has gone up to has been 9063. That was with me hitting the revl limiter

Redline is 9000RPM. That is exactly where the limiter cuts out. It is actually very very acurate...I can have the limiter not kick in if I hit anything below 9000 even and going even the slightest over makes me hit it. Meaning...with the VAFC I can shift at the last possible second and see exactly what RPM I shifted at and I already know if the limiter kicked in or not. And stock vtec engadges right at 5850 acording to the VAFC as well while we're on the subject of RPM's...

I thought redline was 8900 and the rev limiter kicks in at 9200.

Good question though.

its ok i realise now it has 3 cams see below:

In normal running the mild cams do the work, operating the valves via rocker arms just like with an ordinary 16-valve engine. The clever bit happens around 5850rpm when pins lock the previously redundant central rocker arm to the two outer ones, at which point the valves are then controlled by the high lift, long duration cam, providing the improved breathing the engine needs to run at high revs. And in the S2000's case high revs means a mind-boggling 9000rpm.
