Default Where's your hand when driving?

This may have been ask before but I haven't seen it. While driving, I was thinking to myself...Where do I usually put my hand (left) when steering? I notice that it's mainly on 12 while shifting and 7-9ish during cruising.

Anyone wanna add their experience to this?

Hey I had to re-edit my post. Too crazy and unrelated. Im going to sleep, Im suffering from sleep deprevasion...

To answer your question before I depart... I live in the South... well...that's South Florida and here you HAVE to look gangsta... so for me is 12:00 most of the time. It makes me feel in control of my vehicle. My right hand...always on the shifter, my seat....all the way back!

Gangsta...gangsta...

Good night y'all...!

I'm inconsistent, but if I'm focusing on the driving at all my hands are generally at 10 and 2.
Modern thinking in the safety community is that 9 and 3 is better, due to the airbag.
Either way is OK, as is 10/4, which puts the right hand closer to the shifter. Just don't drive with your arms in front of the airbag and you'll be OK. DO keep both hands on the wheel as much of the time as is practical.

12 is too gangster

if concentrated, i do approx 9-3 (with airbag in consideration, as above)

freeway cruising, i rest my left elbow on the door and grab it at 8'. right hand stays on console/shifter

I try to keep them at 9 and 3 particularly when the steering wheel isn't straight, when I'm just driving on a highway, 7, and other times when there's a bunch of shifting going on, 12 or 10.

I've seen some ppl, especially Baller-wannabes with police stunner shades on have their left hand all the way at 1. I wish I could kick my seat back but um...height is an issue haha. Thanks for responding. I thought it was a silly question but just curious and interested on everybody's feedback.

I don't understand. Do you mean that once you're turning at a constant rate you put your hands at 9 and 3?

When I'm turning into or out of a corner my hands are changing the "time" as the wheel turns. In between, during steady state sweepers, I just leave my hands wherever they ended up when I reached the desired turn in/out rate.

Sorry if I mistook your meaning.

Is it better to be a Baller than to be a Baller wannabe?
