Whew, dodged a bullet today
Decided to go out for a drive at lunch today and was zipping along a little over the speed limit (lol) and got nabbed by the local officer. My Cobra radar detector never went off until I was just about next to the cop.
The officer was very nice and only gave me a ticket for "View Obstruction" (having my radar detector on the front window) which is a $44.00 fine with NO points. The ticket for the speeding would have been 4 points!!
Man, I thought I was sunk, but I was very polite with the officer, had my documents ready when he got to the car, had the car off and the keys on the dashboard. I never argued with him about my speed, so I guess it was my lucky day.
My obvious question is why my radar detector never went off? He told me the actual speed I was going when I was him (I glanced down as I hit the brakes), so I know he got me with some kind of radar. I thought the cobra picked up all the newer kinds of things they are using today. Any ideas? Thanks.

"Instant On" radar sucks! Older radar used to sit idly and broadcast stray signal that your cobra detects. Instant on will not power up till he pulls the tirgger. If he hasn't clocked anyone in front of you, your detector had nothing to detect!
Yeah, I know that, but the detector never went off until I was just about next to his car, and then stayed going off while I was in front of him. I had to turn the darn thing off cause it was annoying me.
