Are you in a hurry or able to wait?

If you can wait just find an MSRP dealer, order your car and buy the auto art model to hold you over until the real one arrives.

Otherwise the East is much easier for finding available units.

I bought my white/red Oct 99 with some searching.

The shipping stuff is no problem. You just pay your fees where you register the car.

I saw a yellow one today with the price 42,000
I laughed at the salesman about it and he laughed back.

You know what....
I am so surprised by the replies that I have gotten.
From the deepest bottom of my heart, THANK YOU !!
shit...I thought this world was cold blooded, but now I know there are truly caring individuals in this world..
As for my problem,
I am first going to try and find a dealer that sells at MSRP and wait as clutchcargo has suggested.. then...if the wait is too unbearable, I will try out of state. o wells...patience is a virtue..
but waiting is a @#$%!!
okay...thanks yall .
i'm out!

hey mynoon...(whatever the rest of that is),

I just bought mine from Eugene, Oregon and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. They get ONE every month in a predetermined color. I bought the one slated for their December 2000 delivery, which was suppose to be silver, but I insisted on red, so they charged me an extra $500 to switch the order. Still, it was a good price, only $2500 over MSRP ($32,740 MSRP + $2500 = $35,240). Cheaper than ANY CALIFORNIA DEALER at the time. They guaranteed delivery before Dec. 31st, 2000, and low and behold, I picked it up and drove it back on New Year's Eve.

The point is, you may have to go out of state not only to get the S2K in the color you want for the price you want, but just as importantly, WHEN you want. The CA dealers fed me full of BS with whack delivery dates like "well, we may be getting one in Feb 2001, but I don't know what color..." I don't have time or money for lines like that. The folks in Eugene were pretty straight and came through for me. Once you secure a car out of state, you will have to worry about delivery. Will you drive it back, tow it back on a flatbed trailer, hire a professional trucking service to tow it back for you, or what? I did extensive research on this, from getting all sorts of quotes for the U-haul flatbed and so forth. Finally, the most time and cost efficient method was to fly up and drive it back. From Eugene to San Francisco is about a 570 mile drive. VERY VERY OUCH!! on the first day. But I took my time on that drive, stopping frequently, keeping the revs low, doing some city driving, varying speeds and gear changes, etc. Trying my best to simulate a good break in. Of course it took me twelve hours to get back, but I was VTEC-ing a week later since I had already broken it on day one.

AND THEN....there is the registration. Whoa, that one is a doozy and mostly because DMV is a royal pain in the ass. I won't discuss it here but I posted a previous thread that talks all about registering my S2K from out of state see the thread titled "Confused about CA Registration", shouldn't be but a few days old at this point.

Hope my sermon helped...
