There's been a few posts popping up asking if the extended warranty is worth buying or not so maybe we should compile a list of those who have had warranty coverage denied along with reasons why.

For starters, I have the Honda Care warranty on my MY00 with 10900 miles on it and have had no problems except for the driver's window regulator being replaced, but that was replaced under warranty.

 

I haven't been denied service yet. Honda was actually nice enough to take a ding out for me for free.

My clutch is slipping already at 11k miles though...I'm kinda afraid they're gonna deny warranty service for that though since the clutch is a wear and tear item.

 

No company will really cover clutches, unless it's a mechanical failure and not worn pads.

I've been given warranty repairs on both rear axles and the rear diff.

BTW, what was up with your window regulator? What was the problem(s) and such? I've asked about my window and it being flaky about auto-down and going down when dropping the top and such.

i actually just went to the dealer today to see when my warranty ended and the original owner of the car purchased it on 4/14/01 and i bought it on 4/4/04 and the warranty had already ended and my ballast went bad on my right side. so i just went back to the acura dealership where i purchased it from and their gonna replace it with acura h.i.d.'s which is better than s2k h.i.d.'s anyways. '=)*

 

I have a MY00, with the HondaCare extended warranty.

I have had the following replaced under warranty:

Driver's Sun Visor - splitting at the seam
Softtop - after appealing to District Service Manager
Driver's Window Regulator - partial rolldown

Things that have been DENIED:

TSB 54 & 55. I have the clutch buzz and 2nd gear grind.
Bubbling of paint inside headlamp assembly.

Even though the conditions CAN be duplicated for the dealer, they will not justify the work. I have gone around and around with the local dealers and AHM in Torrance, with no results. I now hate Honda service and will never take it to them again. Their total service failure has turned me away from future Honda purchases.
