Generally, my rule is top down, windows down. However, just like 04Rio, when I get a call, I have to up the window because I simply cannot hear jack if I am on the highways.
When I am driving at night or on a nice day in October or November, the windows may be up to take advantage of that special setting on the climate control dial which has the pic for top down motoring. I thought I read in the owner's manual that that was what that setting was for. It provides for heat in the winter and AC in the summer with the top down. I find it most effective when that setting is used and the windows as well as the rear deflector between the seats is up.

I do - And I am proud of it :-)
I do this December thru March, when the temparature is consistently below 37 degrees Farenheit in NJ.
My top stays down all the time, unless it starts raining or snowing midway during my ride.
Cheers!!

I think people who don't get top-down windows-up lack imagination. You can have open-top motoring while keeping your cocoon intact with windows up, which makes the car much more diverse for things like temperature control, noise control, wind control, etc.

People who can only think all buttoned up or all open aren't thinking of all the possibilities and circumstances that can effect open motoring. What if its 40
