One of my favorite things about convertables is the ability to manipulate airflow within the cabin. If theres a nasty crossbreeze, windows up, problem solved. If theres no serious buffeting, windows down, free ambient air conditioning. Some times i'll just put up the passenger window, but then again I'm crazy.

Top down, up/down:

-Freeway
-Smoking/lighting one with windows down is hard!
-G/F
-Cellphone
-and everything else everyone said.

I see no problem with windows up with top down.

I find that the less I worry about what does or doesn't "look right" the more I enjoy my life.
