Welcome! GTIs are nice...if you have the 1.8T motor.
I came from an Audi A4 with the APR stage 3 kit, it had tons of tq. S2k has enough tq to pulls its weight. I asked the same question when i got mine. "What do mean there's no tq?! there's plenty of it!"

it's all relative.......compared to GTI's and other sports coupes, its got decent torque......compared to other sports cars in its class, the S2000's peak torque and torque band is anemic (well except maybe vs the RX-8).

Unless the "other" car also has a 9k redline(or 8k for the AP2 folks), launching at the same rpm is already giving the "other" car an advantage based on percentage of potential rpm's.BTW, in the right gear, the S2000 has enough!
