Hey I am one of the s/c guys. I just done see that much improvement. next week my car goes in to get fitted with a front mount intercooler and the nitrous express ntercooler system but I still dont think I will be able to hang with the turbo cars. I hope some one breaks the mold and makes a pulley to get some more boost out of the s/c
ChrisD is running mid 12's on mis-matched street tires and stock internals... I have yet to see a SC'ed timeslip in the 12's. I think anyone that knows what Chris (cjb80) is doing will agree that 11's will come with ease.
Wes,
How much money do you have tied up in your car now and how much will you have when whatever you're talking about is completed. A Speedcraft set-up out of the box can probably put down 350 RWHP under the right conditions and you're talking about a very low 12 sec. car.
Let's keep in mind that we're not talking about here-say here... we want proof. As far as I'm concerned... Wes is the only SC'ed car making over 300 RWHP since he's the only one that I've seen prove it. An out of the box Comptech set up would have a pretty difficult time keeping up with a Speedcraft 'equipped' car running much more than 4 psi.
I think I get to chime in and say that while everyone has plans on what they are doing (and I'd have to say that cjb's are probably the most insane and real, definitely in progress), I can post these two little tidbits of info.
Also note that the 12.6 is on old, DIFFERENT tires in the back, one's a michelin, one's a potenza. Don't ask me why. Stock wheels. I've raced 400 hp cars and generally held even (split races) - a 911 turbo, a steeda mustang, a c5 on the bottle, but those are just.. stories, and naturally I don't expect anyone to believe it unless you were there, so I won't make a big effort at trying to back em up.

SC Kit - $5,000
TB - $150
Used Exhaust - $500
Used V-AFC - $275
V-AFC Tuning - $140
Homade CAI - $65 Total - $6,130
As Larry has shown, a 100 shot would easily put the car into the 12's. I'd love to see his slips too, but even without it, I can tell that just a 100 shot would easily put the car into the low 12s.
This setup would most likely turn a high 11 second car. Over 400 RWHP, easy. That comes to a total of around $8,500-$10,000. Whether this is as good or logical of a solution as just going turbo is a completely different discussion. I'm just saying, it can, and will be done.
No hate for any of the TC or SC guys, just want people to realize it's not a far-fetched dream.

What'd he say about drivability? I think that this needs to be made clear.. the t/c is just as drivable as the s/c.. I use mine every day, it is my only daily driver. 8,000 miles or so, so far. I'm sure some quarter mile chunks were driven harder than others, if ya know what I mean.
Wes,
You probably won't find anyone who loves nitrous more than me, especially a nice well tuned direct port set up. There is no better bang for your buck but let's face it... it doesn't offer the same drivability that a tc or an sc do. I didn't see where your listed the money you have tied up in the drivetrain... you must have forgot . Back to the nitrous... my guess is that there are few (if any) that have done nitrous the 'right way' (ie. direct port). In addition to which this isn't a B series motor (or an H series) we're talking about and IMO the F20C just isn't a good candidate for squirting. I considered it for a long time and after numerous discussions with Dwight I decided that I wanted more of a long term all around solution so we went the turbo route.
I think the S/C could be really cool with some work.. I have some ideas (I posted about some of them) but ultimatly I think that the turbo will have an advantage unless some major changes were made to the comptech kit. The Vortech kit on the B series can push 25 psi, but the charger ont he Comptech kit can only push 12?? But I digress...
I think if any S/C'ers just took a ride in a turbo and felt the difference that would be shocked at what they were missing. I have been in both and it's night and day.. It's not just peak power we're talking about, it's the experience getting there..
