Default why can't i post in the racing & comp. forum?

anyone?? it won't let me...have a question about brakes so I'll ask it here...

if i take my S2k to the track, is it wise to get R4's for just the front axle or should i get them on all 4 corners?

also are there any how-to's or tips on how to build break ducting, remove factory dust shields, remove fake factory opening in bumper, etc? I'm afraid the factory brake system is the weak point on the S2k....

There are *MANY* threads with very specific and useful information on S2000 brakes. Tons of discussion on brake pads, fluids, aftermarket calipers, cryo rotors, dust shield removal, alternative cooling ducts, etc.

Use the "advanced search" feature, and you will find tons of info...

Here is a start...

As to your specific question on the R4's, that is a track only pad. (did you mean R4S, which is a street/track pad?). It's probably not a good idea to mix a high performance pad with stock pads in any circumstances, but it seems like an especially poor idea with a race-only pad like the R4.

As pfb said, you do not want to change just the front to race pads. This is because you will be throwing off the factory brake bias. The new front pads will have a higher coefficient of friction which means they will engage much earlier than the rear. In effect, you are taking the rear brakes out of the picture and making the front brakes work much harder (which means more heat). I don't know the coefficient of friction for the R4s but I'm guessing it is higher than stock.

If you find new front pads that have a coefficient of friction close to the stock pads then you will obviously not be upsetting the brake bias. The problem then becomes that the rear stock pads may not be able to operate in the higher temperature range as a result of new front pads.

Hope this helps.
