Why did others make it ?

I was thinking while driving the other day , just how good my car is ....I've owned an S2000 going on 8yrs, still to this day think its one of the best driving cars I ever been in !! I don't know if its me , but the S DRIVES SOOOOO MUCH BETTER then some other "sports cars" in the same market ...example "I'm speaking mostly about the older models " The Z3 , Z4 , The Slk , The Audi tt , The Mazda miata , The Mini cooper ETC.... yet all these cars are still in production , The best one is gone 
....why did Honda let the other car co move ahead with fresh updates and great marketing.Yet they left the S out to dry with very little to no marketing and only minor updates over the ten yrs of production.
The thought is how can these cars mentioned still be in production enjoying increased sales while our little wondermobile ...is history. To top it off most of em cost 20-40% more
Wish Honda made the S for as long as these other cars have been made , its better , nicer looking , more in almost all aspects of fun to drive/own ...I don't get it .............HONDA BRING BACK THE S2000 ...just the way it was "perfect"!!
They made the Morgan S for yrs and yrs with no updates and its still is production...yet our S is gone forever ...
Well one thing for sure is I'll never ever sell mine ...its irreplaceable ...it was then, it is now and will forever be ...long live the one and only S2k

yeah i agree, i can think of a ton of cars that are better than an s2000 in terms of performance and feel. they all cost significantly more money though =P.
- High revving, low displacement n/a engine
- Classic roadster proportions, F/R layout, and size
- Dedicated ragtop
- Rock solid chassis
- Rifle bolt shifter

Dude, you gotta give them a chance to succeed before failing them. Some silly requirements you have there. Dedicated ragtop?!? Why don't you add the following while you're at it:
- has to come with a HONDA logo from the factory

My words stand true ....go find another car with a 9k redline ,240h.p.from a 2.0litler motor, x frame construction , make it convertible ...with the one of best gearbox's ever produced ...then we can talk

I bought S2k for its performance, and frankly speaking, I careless about convertible cars.
but if you stay with restrictions of convertible 2-seat roadster, then Boxster is clearly a much better car and you would be a fool to think otherwise. Z4M is also very good, and from my personal experience has better engine then S2k. and it continues to more expensive cars....like Z8, R8 etc....

If the automatic versions of those cars were invisible, they'd be as rare a sight as the S2000.
Honda had no taste for an expensive bespoke sports car - not the NSX, not a revised S2000, not even a majority of its racing programs - a lot was cut out in recent years as Honda turned toward being a "green automaker".

Give me one of each- A luxo automated interstate cruiser quiet and comfortable and an S2000 for the darker side of driving pleasure. Isn't it these two parallels that makes one appreciate the other? Yep, we need both.

Of course I agree with you that being a convertible contributes to the character of this car. But could you care to share with us why would anyone want to find another car that drives exactly like the S2000? That's just fanboyism. The point we all try make is that there are many other cars that drive not as good, but much better, albeit at a much higher cost.
