What were they thinking? The car would have sold much better if it were an Acura. This is a semi-luxury car and no honda is anywhere near the s2k in price. What were the reasons behind this decision?

Then you need to do some research. The S2000 shares many of the same attributes as those cars. Also, Acura only exists in the US. The same cars sold as Acura's in the US are sold as Honda in the rest of the world. Acura is just a marketing ploy. How is it Honda lost any sales by not making this car an Acura? As far as I know they've sold pretty much every S2000 they've produced.

I can name you 3 people I know personally who have bought a Z3 or Boxter because they didnt want to spend 35K on a honda, even though they knew it was a better car! Acura is the high-class line in America. You would see a lot more of the s2k on the road if it were an acura.
If they've sold every s2k they've produced why are dealers slashing prices now and why are there so many available at the end of the production year? I think you should do some research too.
The price of the accord is about 20% less than that of the s2k so thats hardly comparable. All the 30K+ hondas are acuras, it would have just made more sense. As far as the mini-van and pilot, they only get up to 30 when you throw in a nav system which would run you about 2K+, so they still are quite a bit cheaper than the s2k

Those are not the kinds of idiots Honda want's to sell cars to. The beauty of Honda is that it rarely appeals to the clowns who buy cars because of brand cache.
I am quite pleased my S2k is a Honda, and probably would NOT have bought it had it been an Acura. I like the guys at the Honda dealer much better.
