Red,

I don't care if you want to do such a poll, but it's been beaten to death. If you want me to edit this or kill it, let me know.
I'd really like to see how the poll results turn out, so as long as the thread doesn't turn into an AP1 Vs AP2 debate I'd like to let it stand. It would be cool if you could correct the typo in my poll questions.

Is there any way you can lock the thread and leave the poll open?

To those of you who think we need more poll options, I'm sorry I didn't include more options, but I wanted to keep it simple. If there isn't a perfect match just pick the one that is most applicable.

I appreciate all of you who have responded, and want to thank you all for not letting this turn into another meaningless debate. LOL, it's bad enough that the poll is probably meaningless.

THANKS GUYS!

You should leave the thread unlocked so that those that didn't quite fit into one category can explain themselves. If it does start turning into a flame war then by all means lock it, but until then I think it would be nice to have explanations with the votes.

I need to be able to vote for more than one option
Got an 02 definitely for the price, but if it came down to it I think I'd prefer the AP1 to the AP2 regardless.

That'll work.

I just don't want another thread where people get upset. As long as nobody takes it too seriously it's OK with me if the thread stays open.

All I would ask is that everyone try to be nice. Think about how the things you say might affect others who don't share your opinion. This is just a poll, not a contest.

That's the main reason I set up the poll. If I'd realized what a cool car the S was, I'd have bought one back in 2000, but it was 2004 before I really made any note of the cars. I found some of the details on the MY00-01 cars more to my liking than the later cars, and since I had to find a good used car anyway (always a PITA) I decided I'd rather have a first year car if I could find one that was in good enough shape to suit me. It would have been a heck of a lot easier to simply buy a new car (the local Honda dealership had an '04 in the color I wanted), but that wasn't really what I wanted. In my heart I know I'm not the only one who went with an AP1 for other than economic reasons, but I wanted to verify that feeling. I just can't believe that most people make their automotive choices based on economics.

I came very close to getting an Exige rather than the early AP1, but at the time we had a Jag, and one British car at a time is more than enough.
(Now that the Jag is gone the Exige is tempting me agian, but I'm so pleased with the S that I'll probably end up keeping that money in the bank.)

When I bought my S2000 I didn't know anything about AP1 or AP2.
After I went for a testdrive I bought it.
(yes, that is very stupid, without driving other S2000's or doing any research )
The one I have was the cheapest "trade-in" car at an official Honda dealer listed on Honda.nl at the time.
After some problems (clutch buzz and rear wheel bearing) it turned out fine.
