Why do people want to rev to 9k in ap2?
Ok ive had it, im confused as hell. Why does everybody with an AP2 want to rev to 9k? Nobody has ever given me a good explanation. I asked in another topic and the guy said he wants his f22 to rev to 9k for reliabilty issues.... The way i see it was they made it redline at 8 for a reason, revving more doesnt always make more power. Can someone give me a good explanation as to why? I would think with the extra .2 liters and longer stroke and different gear ratio it would actually hurt the performance?
have you actually looked over any of the threads where people are doing this? Dyno sheets show the power band extends beyond 8000rpm. 0-60 no longer requires a shift to 3rd. Easier to maintain VTEC on the 1-2 shift.
the s2k's engine is similar to a motorcycle engine where it is a dog at low rpms but feels great in the upper range. logically if you could increase the redline (not recommended for reliability) you would enjoy some more thirsty power.
because thats what a S2000 was... It was their feature that the engine was a 240hp 9grand rev'ing beauty... To me the AP2 is more to comfort the American market like how the STi was here compare to the japan models.

Ford makes their cars that way "for a reason." Why would anyone want to rev to 6k?

I hate that reasoning. There are all kinds of laws that are there "for a reason." The reasons don't have to be good ones. If you don't know why or don't consciously agree with the reasoning, then what's the point in that?

the 8k redline is caused they increased the bore/longer stroke, slightly bigger engine.
ford makes 6k redlines because they have huge/even longer stroke engines.
the bigger the stroke the lower the redline.... would revving a mustang gt 9k be a good idea?
id also like to see this thread proving the ap2 will benefit more from having a 9k redline on a stock engine. then ill shutup and walk away with my tail in between my legs. it seems like all you guys care about is how high you can rev your engine. and i dont know how you can compare a s2k engine to a motorcycle engine, in that scenario lets make the s2k rev to 11k so you can be in vtec for 6k rpm. and if you think the s2000 was all about the 9k redline then your clueless, if you want the 9k so bad just buy the ap1. i want some solid proof that this isnt just a point of bragging.
