Why do they put the windshield nozzles on the hood?
I think it ruins the lines on the hood. Has anyone successfully shaved them? I understand they are only mounted by a couple dog ear tabs and come off easily. But back to the question, why put them out on the hood as ugly little bumps. Tucked in by the wipers and out of sight seems much the easier and nicer thing for a manufacturer to do. I think all the Japanese manufacturers put them on the hood though. Why???

Just guessing, but mounting the nozzles that close to the hood probably requires that the jets be much more powerful (and thus more expensive) in order to ensure that cleaning fluid reaches the top of windshield at speed.

My 2001 Prelude has the washers tucked underneath the hood. It's a much cleaner location that those "bumps" on the top. An even better solution is to place the sprayers on the wiper blade itself.

Well, when I got my CF hood, I thought about relocating the nozzles. I thought of mounting them on the cowl, but there is no way to do it without interference of the wiper arms. Cant figure out where else to mount them so I went back to stock. Still looks good IMO.

My guess is that the spray nozzles were put there by the engineers, not the stylists. The further away from the windshield, the lower the angle for spray, and the more efficient it is at doing its job. The closer to the windshield, the greater risk of clogging and getting covered with snow & ice during a snowstorm.
Honda is like any other car company - they pay attention to complaints made, and to warranty costs in previous vehicles. If they encountered more problems having the nozzles close to the windshield, then they're going to reduce their risk of complaints by putting the nozzles on the hood.

<hijacking thread> My nozzles are always getting clogged. It's almost like they take turns pissing me off. If I try to spray some fluid, the clogged one won't work at first, but it will work a few minutes later. I think the spray attempt causes the fluid in the tube to push up against the clog and eventually the clog breaks down. So a few minutes later, they both work.
I can't figure out why it clogs, the fluid is the same as other stuff I've put in previous cars.
