I've been leaving mine down a lot just for fear of someone slashing it. The other night I went to see a movie and left the top down (the theatre has a parking garage) but maybe I should think twice about this now. I thought it was smarter, but the peeing thing would make me have to sell it, lol.

The top in the S2000 goes up and down so quickly ... I always put it up, even for short stops. I'd rather not have to worry about someone doing some of the nasty stuff thats been mentioned here in my car.

If I owned a convertible where it took 30 seconds (The E30 M3 convertible takes roughly about this long) to put the top down and bring it back up ... then I might be more inclined to leave it down for short stops.

I leave the top up but unlock my doors.

I have a '73 MGB as well. Not 2 months after putting on a new top, someone slashed it and stole a $60 radio - The top costs $550+.

From now on, I keep cheap sound, the top goes up, and the doors remain unlocked. I would rather replace a $200 head unit than a $1500 top. (am I low balling the price of an S2K top).

because of the boot?
because the top is never up unless i am washing it?
because if someone wants in, they will slash the top and if its down, they wont?
because its covered and so it doesnt matter whether the top is up or not?

better questions- "why do you park with the top up?"
or
"what top???"
Exactly that.......unless I'm under a tree with birds.....

Just be audacious, leave it running in the hood, with the top down and your iPod on the seat. Everyone will think you're too dangerous to steal from!

I only leave my top down if I'm nearby, outside somewhere, or just running in somewhere. Never at night or for long periods though. I will usually roll the windows up though, to keep people from reaching inside so easily.
