why does everybody put "MY" in front of their model year of their car?

 

Model Year.

 

If you think about Model Year real hard and it will probably come to you .

'00, '01, etc. works for me. Not sure why someone would use MY instead of a simple '.

It took me months to figure out what MY stood for. I asked a friend what year her S2000 was and she kept saying MY 2000. I kept thinking, "Yeah I know it's your S2000 but what year is it?" I guess they use the MY because you could buy the next year's model in the current year. Like I bought my 1998 Odyssey van in Oct. of 1997, but it's a MY 1998.
