soon theyll come out with a 280 hp s2000, itll be out for a couple years, then you guys will all be wondering why doesnt honda add more hp... its kind of like inflation.... but with hp.

 

I can easily add safe, conservative power with a supercharger for much less than it'd cost me to to sell my car and get into a new one, so from an owner's perspective, I don't see caring all that much.

If they did boost it from 240 to 300 at the crank, that still wouldn't match the WHP of a S/C setup. Expect the price to jump with a boost in HP... Probably better bang for the buck with a s/c setup.

But I can kind of see the OP's point... We've had serious HP inflation in the import market since the S2000 was introduced. Look at the STi, Evo, Z, G-series, etc. That's not even counting the general uptrend in "sporty" class car HP.

 

I don't think the S2000 needs more power, and if its going to get more power it will be dangerous IMO. It will need a total upgrade to all the vehicle around to increase the hp within safe overall condition.

 

And yet, isn't the F20C still more powerful than all versions of the K20 (except CTRR), in HP at least? I think the best tq on a k20 is the new CTR FD2 at 161 ft-lbs but 225hp. Just asking, cause 2L for 2L, the F20C still seems like the best thing ever created (NA).

How can you say that with all these people doing power mods to their car? It's not like there's in increase in accidents when people add turbo's and SC's to their car.

 

so why dont they slap a turbocharger on all of their cars, and increase all of their hp power, and have a leg-up on the competition.

its very easy to draw something on paper. its another to implement it. research? development? cost? time? will it upset the chassis? will it up-end another honda vehicle? reliability issues? will there be lag? reconfigure gearing? beefen transmission?

 

Again, it's a very simple technology allowing you to add more or less valve overlap based on where you are in the power curve. It would add power. Look at the shape of the TQ curve on a K20 versus an F20.

 

Obviously there's still people out there who feel the S2000 is powerful enough - that's why Honda still sells over ten thousand a year. Its a great car, but a little engine development would be nice.
