Yea... my thread is back. It's alive!!! It's alive!!!

And while we're on the subject, I guess that Honda isn't too afraid since the S2000 is getting a bump in power. You never know, it could have been because of all of my bitchin'

It's not what Honda "needs" to do, but what they can and don't do.

I would not say most. The US manufacturers are notorious for designing an engine and making no changes for years. Look at the Northstar from GM. It has been at 300HP for at least 6 years.

The engine in the S already has class leading HP numbers. To get more power, they would either need to increase RPM or displacement. Maybe in a few more years they will be able to extract more power from the same displacement and RPM. Extracting more power for an already highly tuned piece of engineering is no small feat. Extracting more power from a lump of garbage is easy; GM does that every few years.

They have to supply parts for 7 years, that is the mandate. It also does not costs millions of dollar to certify a vehicle. I was looking at importing and to get the government to inspect and do emissions testing, it would run $50,000. After that, I could sell them if I wanted. The key here is that it was a motorcycle so no crash testing would be required, which is where most of the money probably goes. It still would not be millions though.
