Default Why New Exhaust?

Curious as to why people think putting a new exhaust on the S is a good idea? (Especially MY 2004).

Gains seem to be very small and not even noticable (butt dyno) unless you see a dyno (actual) and if we are really being honest the weight loss from a Ti exhaust is not much help unless you are racing (ie. not noticable to the average enthusiest). Wouldn't it be better to keep the OEM exhaust (very well made) and just switch out mufflers to get the sound you like?

Anyone out there just switched mufflers for the sound?

A couple of guys went to Spugen to keep their exhaust tips and have new mufflers installed.

I am waiting on the new Mugen one myself. Deeper tone and half the weight.

The lost of weight is VERY noticeable, I went from stock to spugen ti v1 to stock again and I can definetly tell my car is less responsive and slower.

I, too, have been wondering why not keep the stock pipes and just replace the mufflers with inexpensive SS aftermarket mufflers! I am not interested in performance, only sound! Someone must have done this before! Any recommendations?

I think the whole system in SS looks better than the cheaper option. Also I rather have name brand things. I cheaped out on the Amuse style front spoiler and it sucks.

I'm also curious about just replacing the mufflers and tips with aftermarkets for a better sound. Right now the cost of replacing the exhaust system to get a better sound is not worth it. Are there any other brands of mufflers that people have tried that work well with the stock exhaust pipe.

Thanks

Here's an option: Resonator removal. I've got an appointment set up to have a resonatorectomy later this week.
