Rick - Yep, I had heard that the Governor had declared Maryland a moron-free zone. Seriously, I don't think any area is exempt from risk of encounters with idiots. But it is probably reasonable to assume that regional differences in values and world-view of the general population could make some areas more likely to grow bumper crops of morons, and other areas less likely. You may have identified a hot-spot. And in spite of my name, I never lived there.

A bat is cool if you're going to throw, but useless in a gunfight.

Two years ago some idiots similar to the above descriptions were pulling the same antics on a few friends of mine. My friends tried passing. When they got ahead, the other cars sped up a then things took a turn for the worse. A passenger from one of the other cars started shooting, and hit one of my friends in the face. The shooter was never caught or prosecuted. The story was on the cover of the Seattle Times, and was a sad one indeed. While my friend barely survived, there is still lingering trauma.

Definitely call the police and do everything possible to avoid the lowest common denominator. Speeding up to pass or flashing your lights will likely provoke an idiot. This happened on a freeway in suburban Seattle; there is no reason why it can't happen anywhere else.

Be careful out there.

Never had any problems like that in that VA/NC region, weird stuff! There are a lot of a-holes out there though...

I dunno, but it seems like just about any kind of automobile has tried to race me or ride my ass. It doesn't matter if it's a Mustang, Hyundai Tiburan, Dodge Caravan, whatever. I don't get this reaction when I'm in my g/f's Integra. It's like everybody feels they have something to prove.

Come to think of it. A week ago I was driving behind some jackass in a late 80's Buick pos. We were on a 45 mph road. He kept slowing down, then flooring it over and over again. I was like, wtf? What is all this about. You gotta be kidding me.

I don't know about some people nowadays. Sure makes for a good laugh though.
