Thanks for the replies.
Sounds a lot like the Miata (very quick to rotate either direction, just not easy to stay in the middle) but with more power.

Of courst I realize that drifting isn't the fast way to drive, but I've gotten used to the playful nature of the Cobra along with massive low-end torque from the blower.
Not to mention showing off in front of my friend and his 993! It's great too because on the Nashville Superspeedway road course I knocked off almost everything in my path. A 190HP 1200lb Caterham replica did eat my lunch though!

I'll search for the drifting S you mentioned.
I was thinking that we should be able to dial in more controlability at the limit without affecting the racing-nature of the suspension.

Anyone recommend adjustable sways, shocks, alignment, etc?

Just throw some Wal-Mart tires on the rear and you'll be side stepping like a pro

If you want to duplicate the cobra slides, don't bother with this car. It has been repeatedly mentioned as the hardest car to drift. Like mentioned before, RSR made the drift version a little sloppy with the suspension and balance to get it to do what it does. It will come around on you, but if you set this car up for performance with good tires, it won't do it for long. Maybe a quick slide, but that's it. After that it's either straight ahead or into the wall.

It's defenitely possible to drift a stock s2000. Not easy to do, but I've seen some video of Tcuhiya (sp?) drifting as S2000 pretty easily. Of course they don't call him the Drift - king for nothing.

Maybe my original question has more to do with how happy I'll be with an S.

I didn't want it to come to this but:
Should I buy an S2000?

Come on guys who've had all the latest sports cars, give me some feedback?

Next to impossible to rent an S for a day, in my experience. I tried many exotic rental places and while being able to rent a Saleen, Audi TT, BMW Z8 and others, they don't offer the S2000 any longer because people who rent that particular car tend to be pretty hard on the clutch/driveline. Big surprise.

Moving up from the earth moving brute force of a '99 Hyundai Tiburon FX, I can safely say that the S is a great car that you should definitely choose!

Seriously, it's about the most affordable convertible sports car that actually handles amazing and you don't see one every 5 feet like you do a boxster or mustang.
