I know a lot of you guys are interested in modding up your S. Before my S, I had a 2003 Acura CL Type S which I modded up fairly extensively. I never had the chance to test any warranty conditions that might have cropped up. I ordered the parts thru my Acura dealer and had them do the install. I felt even though I paid a little more there for the CompTech parts, they would stand behind the car should I needed warranty work. What are your thoughts on modding and warranties? Anyone have any experience with this? I'm sure we'd all love to know.
PS: I think that's affected, not effected

It all just depends on what mods they are, and how the guys at the service department are to be honest with you.

if they can find a reason for why something may happen to your car, like if there was a problem, and they relate it to your mods, then it wont be covered by warrenty to fix it, you would have to fight it out to prove they are wrong, the only mod i know of that voids warrenty is supercharging it, but things like exhaust, header, CAI, etc will not void warrenty

call 1-800-999-5901 and ask what is what. Don't guess and then have a warranty issue.

This is wrong. Many people have had their engine warranty denied due to hydrolock as a result of adding a CAI. The law is that if a breakage can be shown to be a result of a mod than the warranty is void regarding that breakage. Sometimes it's a gray area but be aware that if you do a mod, any mod, it could void part or all of your warranty, and the chances are that the dealership will try to use any mod you have against you if at all possible. I had the dealer try to use my CAI as one of a bunch of reasons to try to avoid paying for a transmission problem.

Interesting... I still have my 01 CL-S that was also moded with all the Comptech goodies. I was thinking of bringing the S2K to the same dealer for mods. They told me that they mod Honda's also with all the Comptech stuff and honor the warrenties.

Mods are a grey area. Be warned. If the dealership is good with you when you get a mod then great. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row with the service manager. Dealerships get way less per hour when they have to do warranty so it is not on there best things to do list.
