Default Will straight pipes hurt perform?

From the Y pipe back, I am thinking of taking the mufflers off and just putting pipes. Will this affect performance and gas mileage? Im assuming there wont be a drastic change, but I wanted yalls opinion. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you do that, prepare to be flamed... That is gonna sound RIDICULOUS.

Also, get ear plugs.

Ok, what makes you think that? Will it sound like a high pitched civic? Or will it sound deep?

If you want to hear how deafening/horrible that will sound just unbolt your stock exhaust at the cat and start it up . When I put on my exhaust I started it up with nothing after the cat just to hear it out of curiosity, and yes, its true, curiosity killed the cat . It sounds horrible.

a "normal" car will also loose power; I had a hole in the flex pipe of my accord - it was loud and lost all torque

Actually, it doesn't sound that bad. Cyclon36 is a CO here, and president of the s2k atlanta club. He takes off the mufflers and puts on straight pipes when he goes to the track. He dynoed the car and lost about 1hp and 1 lb torque. It does save relatively 40 pounds though. In any case, just get a nice single exhaust if you're looking for loud, power, and weight savings.
