Just an FYI....when I installed my HKS, i took off the stock exhaust, and its a tradition in my garage to start all cars without an exhaust, just to see how they sound. The s2000 sounds INCREDIBLE without any exhaust. I did it in an enclosed garage, so the sound is even more pronounced. Its loud, but by no means sounds like a civic.

I have changed exhausts in this order: OEM-Invidia-OEM-J's Racing. I must say that I started and revved the engine at 9000rpms (exhaust removed). The sound is not terrible! It sounds like an F1 and my ears were ringing!

I dont know what the sound will be like though, having the mid resonator and pipings all the way to the rear.

Kind of a good question.
SRT-4's sound mean and as I recall they only have resonators on right?
Of course they sound like diesels to me, kinda like the sound though.\
So how is it that they don't sound like civic's with no real muffling

I think I will just experience some day, and take off the bolts right before the Y pipe. If I like it, Ill put straight pipes, If I dont, then Ill just save for aftermarket mufflers. That is great that many of yall say the S2k sounds like an F1 without an exhaust
cant wait to hear it...

I started my car up with everything removed from the test pipe back, and it sounded pretty good IMO, just ungodly loud! Of course with the j's racing exhaust it isn't all that much quieter now, just a smoother tone.

Has anyone tried the Supertrapp resonators at the back?

I drove without an exhaust for about 10 min, it was so loud that I had to put it back because I was paranoid of cops.

Hitting 9k with no exhaust underload is CRAZY.

The SRT-4 is a turbo'd car. Exhaust gasses go through the turbo first then out the back exhaust pipes. This effectively acts like a muffler that quiets down the exhaust note considerably.

I started my car with no exhaust. I didn't drive it, just started it. I think it sounded AMAZING.... But that's just MHO. To each their own. Even though I loved it, I still have the T1r 70r!
