will these help?
They will greatly increase your acceleration but that will come at the expense of a reduced top speed. I can't remember what the top speed with 4.77's is but I thought somebody the other day said something like 135mph. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. btw, it's not just top speed you have to think about, you also have to figure that when you're cruising on the freeway at say 75mph, you will be at much higher rpm's with the 4.77's than you would be with the stock gears. Is it worth it, that is for you to decide.
What does 17 have to do with anything? I'm 17............. but yes the gears will help out a lot. They don't actually give you any power, but put the power down sooner. Your gears will be a lot shorter.... instead of shifting at 40ish mph in first I think it will be around the low 30's. Also your top speed will be limited by the gearing. I also heard s2k owners saying the 4.77s are a little harsh (good for the track) but not to good for a daily driver. If you can try to get the 4.57s as they are better for a daily driver and your rpms won't always be as high may save u some gas depending on the way you drive, switch gears, ect.... Well I think I'm correct about all this, if not correct me someone!
I hope to get my s2k pretty soon!!!!!

4.77s on an AP1 tops out at 142 mph, so you lose about 8 mph off the top. However, as already mentioned, if you cruise at aroung 80 mph, your rpm will be at 5000.
Time to do some reading so you understand what you're getting yourself into. Check out the FAQs at the top of Technical at the top of UTH. There's a few links in there about gears and rear diffs.
don't really know about gear ratios yet
