Default Will this work for Oil change

attempting the first oil change on an 07'. I wonder if i could use the OEM scissor jack on a 2"x4" to jack up the front left. This would give me enough clearance to slide a jack stand under the front center jack point as a saftey measure. This appears that would be enough clearance for me to slide under the front to get to the drain plug. After plug is removed I would take jack stand out, lower the car and allow all the oil to drain. Then I could repeat the procedure to re-install the drain plug. Lower car and add new oild filter. Any ideas or suggestions.

thanks in advance,
Drew

i dont trust those scissor jacks for antyhing.. especially on a piece of wood.
Do yourself a huge favor and go buy a floor jack.. they arent expensive, and will save a lot of hassle, and save from damaging anything.

if this option doesnt help, go pay to get your oil changed until you have the right equipment to do the oil change yourself.

Goto Sears spend $100 on an Aluminum Floor Jack. Light weight and low profile. Make sure to use jack stands.

get a fumoto drain valve so you never have to screw or unscrew anything. flip a switch and the oil comes out.

drive your car onto wood that's 1/2" tall. slide your low-profile oil catch tub under the car. flip the switch. drain the oil. flip the switch to close the valve.

easy!

So do you back the rear of the car onto the ramps to allow the the oil to drain and if so can you reach the drain plug? I notice what apopears to be the car still up on the jack in your reply.

Jackstands and floor jack. Personally I use both, keeping just a little weight on the jack while the stands hold most of the weight.
