Default Wind Noise with Hardtop.

Hey Guys,

How much less wind noise do you get with an oem hard top as opposed to the soft top at highway speeds 60+mph?? Details are appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT

Thanks guys. I should have made it more clear but im concerned straight up cloth vs aluminum noise difference, neglecting faulty strikers, seals, etc. Even with hard top strikers, properly sealed components etc, the wind noise is pretty noticeable at high speeds due to the nature of the soft top material. IE id like to know if you can hold a conversation at high speeds without raising your voice like you have to with the soft top. Thanks again. Cheers.

The majority of wind noise problems can be fixed by adjusting how tight the top seals against the window frame.

My top was recently replaced and it fits tighter up at the top -- much quieter inside now.

its cuts out a huge amount of wind noise with the hardtop

if you have the soft top and cant get a ht then get some hardtop strikers for you soft top that will also reduce wind noise you can get those from hardtopguy.com

have not experienced in the S2000, but in my old miata, hardtop made a pretty big difference. And i'm talking an OEM one too. the extra liner and barrier appeared to create much less wind noise.

holy hell that much eh?

not necessarily the insulation, but the material. Soft top isn't solid, flaps under heavy loads of wind, is so thin that it doesnt really do any soundproofing. It's like if you replace your windows with the same materials it'd be bloody loud whereas if you have ur glass windows and have them closed, it's pretty much silent. Same concept.

It's a lot less noisy at low speeds. Once you get to highway speeds it's probably only slightly quieter.
