Default Window Black Tape..

I've searched and read up on it but it hasn't answered my question.

WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF IT?

lol Do you guys think its worth taking off? I have a 00' silverstone S2000..

I'm starting to debate over it.. Only cause my friend with a Turbo Civic pointed out that its tape. But i mean seriously why would i want tape on my car... lol

I have taken the tape off of mine. I believe the point of it was to have the frame match the top while its up. I personally like the tape off because it looks better with the top down which mine is a lot and much better with a hardtop. Also sometimes when they were putting the tape on parts of the window frame, some areas were sanded I suppose so the tape went on smoothly. Some cars have had it some don't. Mine was sanded in 2 places, however I was able to buff them out myself.

It's going to be a real pain if you're thinking about removing it now.

Why does it matter that it's tape? Pinstriping, clear bras, decals and other graphics are basically tape as well. Not to mention all the tape used in your car's wiring. Are you going to remove that?

Either you like the way it looks or you don't. Go with your preference. Any question of worth is subjective and you're just going to get answers all across the board that may or may have any any relevance to your own preference.

I took mine off.
Only mod I wish I could undo, but putting tape back is tough unless you're in the middle of a windsheild replacement too.

Mine came out good, just doesn't look as good top up. Too Miata.
Also, I've seen the NFR with a black hardtop, and it looks great. That is out now.
Suppose I could paint it, but what is done is done.
Moving forward.

EXACLTY!!!!

People say "it looks better with the soft top up". Yes, I agree. But if I have the soft top up, chances are my car is in the middle of some rain or in a situation that I don't care if the car has the black tape around the windshield.

On days that I have the top down and am enjoying the sun? Hell ya I want my car to look good ...

So yes, it's stupid. In fact, it's only in the US that Honda decided to slap on the black tape. Makes me wonder ...

Except for berlina, tape off makes the winshield frame stick out like a sore thumb. You'r gonna have to determine weather you like this look before removing the tape. I do like the look with a matching HT but not enough to remove the tape.

It's there because the car looks hideous when it's off and the soft top is up.
