Default Window rubber torn

Hi,

The vertical rubber strip on the driver side window has torn. Must be due to the strain on the rubber caused by closing the door.
Has anyone else had this problem? See photos for clarification. Car is 5 years old.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Looks more like from raising the window. Did you use Shin-Etsu silicone grease to lube your seals regularly? Otherwise the friction can cause the seals to pinch and wear.

I always raise my window with the door open, because otherwise the safety always kicks in and lowers the window again.
So that cannot be the cause. Use Shin-Etsu about every six months.

that's not normal, sounds like something is wrong with your window/door/top alignment

Very not normal. Should have taken care of the window alignment a long time ago. Was the car in an accident? I've never heard of anyone's window being that misaligned so as to not allow closure.

Nope, car is accident free and perfect in all other respects. Window is perfectly closed and no water comes, no window misalignment, only a touchy safety sensor.
Does not happen all the time.
