Default slow drivers window

Hello all

I've just bought a 2006 and just sorting out the inevitable issues you get when buying a second hand car.

First on me list is to fix the drivers side window, It goes down quickly but goes up really slowly or sometimes doesn't even make it up. I've done a bit of a search and came up with a few possible things. Grease the window runners with shin etsu grease or replace window regulator.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience of this before I go forking out for bits and pieces.

Cheers

Mark

Have a look inside the door when the window is down and make sure the rubber seals aren't ripped and fouling the window. I would grease the window channels either way.

Yeah I had a look at the regulators on ebay and it looks like the window is bolted to a plate that then runs up and down a channel. I'm guessing it will either be the channel full of gunk or the cables knackered. Either way its door card off isn't it.

You can check whether the seals have ripped by just winding down the window and looking in from the top

A simple solution might be a bit of silicone spray along the plastic bit where the window emerges.

Had a look today and all the rubbers seem fine. I'm guessing there will be something wrong with the rail or friction somewhere.

Will give the silicone spray a go before I dive in taking the door card off. I'd rather be out driving it than fixing it the way the weather is.

LG is right - as ever. This is one of my automatic bi-annual maintenance things along with greasing all the seals. I've had the damned thing so long i forget other people don't know about it.

Wont greasing all the seals just make a mess of the window? From what I can see the only seals on the door are a little triangle one at the front then a strip along the top of the door. Surely you cant grease that because the whole window runs up it?

the silicon grease is to soften the rubber in the channels - once it's softened and you've cleaned the edge of the window a few times it's fine. The channels you are greasing are the vertical ones inside the door that guide the window up and down. you do NOT grease the seals that run over the width of the top of the door

That makes perfect sense. Ordered the proper grease from Honda today. Comes with a little application sponge apparently to will give that a try and get the channel all cleaned out
