(searched, came up empty...so here's my dumb question)

The windscreen is supposed to support the weight of the car, or most of it, in the event of a roll-over, right?

First time I was a passenger in an S2K, I instinctively grabbed the top of the windscreen to help pull myself out.

I know my passengers will all do the same.

Should I discourage this?

Umm... next time grab the side of the car or something, then the fingerprints wont be all over the beautiful windscreen!

I think you mean the roll bar. The windscreen can't support the weight of the car. It is okay to use the rollbar to pull yourself out.

The way I park the Stook in my garage forces me to enter and exit it "Dukes of Hazzard" Style. I put my left hand on a nearby toolbox, right hand on the top of the windshield header, vault over the passenger door and step on the carefully placed towel on the passenger seat and then slither down behind the wheel. No problems. Unless you weigh 700 lbs or something I think you should be fine.

The windscreen is far better for supporting your weight than the door while it is opened (the later is not recommended).

(in case anyone is confused, some of us Canadians and Brits refer to the 'windshield' as the 'windscreen' -- in any case, I mean the big piece of glass in front of you when driving, and specifically, I mean the steel that surrounds it.)

I think we have a crisis of semantics here. I believe the "windscreen" to which SliverFog refers is what we here in the United States call a "W-I-N-D-S-H-I-E-L-D". Other than fingerprints and other cosmetic damage, I don't see any problem using it as an aid to getting out of the car. If, in fact, you WERE referring to the "aeroscreen" between the seat backs, it had better be some new third-party, steel-reinforced baby that Rick Hesel is working on.
