Default Windshield cracked while adjusting rear mirror PIC

Hey guys, last night there was this stupid truck coming up from behind with his high beams. Seeing I did't want to be bothered by the glare, I immediately flicked that little lever under the mirror to adjust it to dim mode. I saw the WS develop a crack right before my very eyes.

I'm really pissed. What can I do? Obviously nobody wants to this to happen to them. Can I complain this to the dealer? Thanks for your input!

thanks for your reply. Here's a pic of the crack

as you can see, the crack started in the middle where the mirror and WS are bound.

Interesting...

Did you whack the mirror a good one, or just quickly flip the lever?

I'd bring it to the dealership and show it to them. I feel as though it broke under intended use and should be covered under warranty. They be feel differently.

I have had this happen on a replacement winshield on my Civic, but never the OEM.

If the window cracked when you flipped the lever of the rear-view mirror then it should be covered under warranty as a defective ws.

If there is no way for them to say its an externally caused crack ie. a rock. Then they should cover it.

here's a summary of my windshield warranty claim...hope it helps.

My s2000 was less than a year old and one of my wiper blades caused a half-circle scratch across my window. The blades are made up the rubber blade and two thin metal strips on each side and one of the metal strips had seperated from the blade and bent downward. I assume this happened during a rain storm because I hadn't noticed it beforehand. I was driving through very heavy rain and didn't hear any noise from the wiperblade but I assume the part that had bent down was rubbing back and forth across my window during the storm. I noticed it right when I got in the car the following morning and notified the dealership. We went round and round for 2 months (mostly me calling different people and not getting a response back). They kept telling me that a Honda Rep would have to look at it and they promised to call me when that individual was at the dealership but I never got the call even though I continuously prodded them to make sure I wasn't forgotten.

FINALLY, I started working with the Service Manager as opposed to the Service Advisor and Services Director that I worked with previously. The Service Manager actually returned my calls unlike the others and agreed to order and replace the windsheild at no charge. They wrote a statement on the receipt about it being a "goodwill" one-time service so I assume they don't feel obligated to pay for claims like this but they will if you stay on them.

My advice is to be persistant and document who you spoke with and when. Good luck and hopefully it is resolved with less effort than mine.

none. the area is smooth as a babys butt. (it's just dirty in the pic) but no rock / debris damage.

quickly flipped it.

thanks a lot to all your inputs! i'll go and ask the dealer to cover this.
