I use a cellphone mount that slides into the CD player slot. Not eye level but secure and out of the way. Just drop it in the secret compartment when not using it -- which is 99% of the time as I use a Garmin GPS for navigation.

Added: This GPS mates with my iPhone and provides hands free operation eliminating the need for an eye-level phone which never leaves my belt.

(Just adding an alternate option if navigation is the reason for mounting the phone high on the dash.)
