Windshield replaced - Common Rear view mirror too high prob - Sol???
So I recently had my whole car resprayed including a windshield replacement (Pilkington). As was mentioned in several threads previously, my rear view mirror sits higher than before (hard to adjust, touches map lights etc).
Apparently this is a common issue. What I can't seem to find is the actual solution. The mirror is installed in the correct spot (the black patch built into the glass). There are two things I have read
1. The factory mirror mount is installed at an angle - which helps the mirror clear the roof structures. <-- What does this mean? Do I need a new mirror mount from Honda? (the orgional is honda already)
2. The mount is installed upside down because it is counter intuitive and installer get it wrong? Again the mount seems pretty straight to me.
Here is the thread which is a bit old so I didn't want to revive it.

The body shop is willing to do whatever is needed (order new mirror mount etc). I just don't know what to tell them. The problem doesn't bug me enough that I would want the windshield reinstalled etc. Hoping there is a quick fix.
BTW here is the fully repainted car.

I have the same issue, and one better. Mine vibrates badly.
I can try to explain. In my case, I have a PGW windshield. It was delivered with mirror mount already installed. My last replacement windshield did not have one already installed. It used the one from the prior windshield.
The OEM mount was a wedge shaped. Meaning the top is thinner then the bottom. The PGW mount is not wedge shaped, the top and bottom are the same thickness, and the same thickness of the top of the OEM mount. This means the OEM mount cover will not snap back in place either.

Hopefully mine won't start vibrating soon as well.
Which part below is the mirror mount that is supposed to be wedge shaped. Can the replacement part be ordered without the entire glass. Can the part be taken off my original factory windshield (not sure if they still have it). I originally asked for PGW, but you are telling me that it has the same issue. I am sure a ton of people have had their windshields replaced (most of them had to have been non OEM). Are people just ok with this. Is this an installer issue?

You can remove the mirror mount by CAREFULLY heating the mount with a propane torch while twisting it with a pair of channelock pliers. You have to feather the heat on the mount, not a direct long flame in one place. Too much concentrated heat will melt the mount and possibly crack the windshield.
I️ removed mine to install an auto-dimming rear view mirror with an outside thermometer and compass reading. I️ needed a standard mount used by domestic car companies. I️ removed the one on the windshield and glued on a different mount. I’ve had it on there for several years. Great mod.

I bought a used Homelink/autodimming mirror on eBay (from a G35, paid $29), built the harness, tapped into the fuse block under the dash, and took the car to my favored glass installer. They had plenty of OEM wedge mounts sitting around, so they agreed to install one for free. I tipped the guy $10. He was also repairing a chip at the time.
EDIT: Since the OP is about the height of the mount, I'll also add that the mirror I bought will adjust sufficiently under the cowl trim while mounted to the aftermarket mount location. I'll see if I can round up some pics.
EDIT 2: Found the album. http://imgur.com/a/uStVD
