thanks for the comments. a word of warning... it might take longer than 45 mins. i just worked really fast to get it over with and some might find paint defects. PLEASE, really consider whether you want to do this, as there is no going back. my reasoning was that i see other convertibles with matching winshield paint so if worst comes to worse, my s would look like all the other cars out there and no one would notice except me.

Sleepy,
Did you have any scuffs under your tape? I had about an 8 inch strip near the drivers side. I freaked when I first saw it. I thought I caused it. So far I haven't fixed it yet. I read on some other posts that 3M makes a swirl mark remover that fixes the scuffs.

Nope! I just did it too. Took about 45 minutes.

To others considering this:
There are 3 pieces of tape, 1 on each side and one on the top. Do the sides first since they both overlap the top piece. On second thought that's a pretty obvious suggestion, you have to start on the sides. Ok, nevermind. It's still early for me.

Pull the tape off smoothly and slowly. Use a hand over hand method so you can pull off one entire piece without stopping. I noticed there was more adhesive residue where I stopped pulling for a second.

The bug and tar stuff works pretty good but I had to use several applications to get all the adhesive off. I found my finger nail and fingers to be the best tools for the job.

why does Honda put the tape there in the first place?

I think it looks fantastic without the tape!

it looks good, especially if you have a matching hard top. I still leave mine on 'cause I look at all the chips I have on the front end( including the side mirrors), I don't want to add another part to be repainted in the future.

This was the first thing I did when I picked up my S a month ago. Took 1/2 an hour with no paint defects and only an inch of residue to remove. The car looks so much better without the tape IMO.
