They do, the cop was just a dick...and its only 35%
Why was he a dick for enforcing a law which you admit you're in violation of?

Tinted windshields on convertibles always remind me of those super-cool visors that Asian women wear:

Maybe he works on the road.

Accountant?

Welder?

Just goes to show, you give people an inch and they'll take a mile. We've been fighting for years in IL to allow at least some tint on front windows. It finally passed last year. I've already been seeing more and more cars with their windshields tinted (still illegal).

And regarding the photoshop/picture suggestion... Why are you giving people such potentially shitty advice? "Your honor, I have with me an image of my car printed from my home computer!" Good luck with that
It was the OP that stated he's required to submit photo evidence to get the charge dropped. You think the court really cares he has tint? They want his money. That's all this is about so screw 'em any way you can.

That's what the LEO said. Don't paint me as anti-LEO, but I'd take any judicial advice offered from a LEO with a grain of salt. LEO knows that the fine will get paid regardless and both parties move on from the stop without issue. If the LEO only cared 100% of the revenue, he could've written a civil citation instead.

Wouldn't be surprised if OP has to request a trial. LEO won't be there for a tint ticket. Default judgment goes to defendant.

Actually, I've had SEVERAL tint tickets.

The cops do show up, they have scheduled court dates and you go when they're scheduled so there's a large amount of people there for varying offenses (speeding to DUI to tint)

Every time I've gone it's been

"No Contest - Compliance" and I bring photographic evidence of the item fixed. One was being too low. So I raised the car up and took shots with a tape measure that were time/date stamped. Another was no front plate, throw on the front plate and take a picture.

The judges generally either dismiss it or waive the actual fine and you pay court costs.

Bad luck when you run into your cop at the court house.

But the difference here is your photos were time stamped. This is like the old poor man's copyright. I was referring to the photoshop suggestion.

In reality, OP's ticket is meaningless, save for time and $$.

Muffinman... join date roughly 1.5 yrs ago, my04 nfr, hardtop... do you have my old car??

Haha, nope - picked it up sans hardtop from an elderly couple

Just tossing this out there...

There is a free trial download of a software that will even go so far as to edit the picture's metadata for the location/time taken. Takes like 10 seconds. One could also drive a different car to the courthouse if they didn't fix it.

Well here in alabama, when you get a tint ticket, even if you have taken the tint off, it will always bleed you money. For example , i was given a tint ticket by a officer. I take off the tint. Take it back to a officer to look at and sign the ticket off. However i still had to pay "court costs" which was a high percentage of what the ticket would have costs me. I paid 95 dollars for a 120 dollar ticket. If your gonna save a measly 25 bucks i suggest paying off the ticket and moving on. Or alternatively remove tint and move on. Trying to go around the system might yield unfavorable results. Another ticket for the same offense will reflect in record keeping. Trust me the last thing you want to do is get a judge angry trying to pull a fast one. Chances are your not a good enough liar. lol.
