so i was parked at my work and the wind was blowing like crazy, wind advisory and everything....anyhow one of the cart boys says Ryan, your car has a dent...so there was a cart stuck to the front end of my car, the plastic part put a 6 inch wide dent in my hood, scratched the front fascia and left it with pressure marks...and trust me..i park wayyyy out

i got a 500 dollar deductable, pisses me off, ill be on vacation next week so no time for estimates yet..so 05 bumper and carbon fiber hood here i come!

Park uphill - make it hard for those carts to get you!

shopping carts are a fear of mine as well. when i had my old rsx, the wind knocked over these huge plastic garbage bins onto the rear quarter panel.

several years ago my uncle had an incident where he was at costco and while shopping one of their carts left a decent sized dent on his car. he went back in, complained about it, and they ended up making his prior purchase of 300+ bucks free as a gesture of goodwill!

Is it a $500 comprehensive deductable? Mine is only $250.

If you are thinking it will qualify under collision, it SHOULD NOT. You did not hit anything with your car, another car did not hit you. When I had this happen to one of my cars in a Walmart parking lot, my insurance adjuster tried to put it under collision. I called the company, told them I was going to take my business elsewhere if that was how it was going to be. When they didn't budge, I informed my dad of what was going on (he has even more insurance coverage with the same company), and he made one phone call.....and after that, I can tell you that this type of situation does fall under comprehensive. Don't let the insurance screw you into a $500 collison deductable.

Believe it or not, the more cautious you are, the more unlucky it gets. I used to be extremely cautious about parking at certain spots but to no avail, my TSX had more than 5 marks from shopping carts on the rear bumper.

With that said, I worry less about being cautious with my S and park at my convenience. And it still drives without unwarranted damage.

Damn shopping carts! I hate when you park like 2 miles away from a store just to get a door ding.
