If you have good credit the best loan rates can be found at capitoloneautofinance.com. It might be helpful to have parent or someone with good credit cosign to get the best rate possible if you are young without much history.

Taxes would add a fairly significant amount. Probably not 2k worth depending on where you live. You'll have to add liscense and registration which add another hundred or so depending on location.

Does anyone know if the amount of loan one can get is based more on income or credit score?

Usually the amount of money you can borrow is based on income. They take into account your housing costs, if any; length of time at current job/residence, and some other factors.

Your credit score is use more to determine the interest rate you'll be charged.

For instance, my next-door neighbor is 28, lives at home, makes decent money ($25/hr, construction), but has a horrible credit rating. He currently has a 36-month auto loan at 18.5%.

If you want to see how your credit score is, go to www.myfico.com

dealer offered me a 03' silverstone/red with 13k miles for $22k was asking $25K...told them not good enough...man the deals are out there. I'm shooting for 20k for an 03' or 18k for an 02'...we'll see if I can make it happen.

keep the purchase prices comming in...I used some of the info from this thread already to get this price...thanks

SF_Firestarter,

That was me. The seller in Dallas has a really classy operation; I would highly recommend them. Needless to say, they were surprised (and disappointed) about the closing price and regretted the "No Reserve" option. But they were very professional and honored the deal and very friendly.

To some this may be obvious, but during the heart of winter is the best time to buy an S2000. Especially in the used market. I watched the prices fluctuate last year when I was looking for an 03.

If anyone is looking, there is a guy in the For Sale forum that has a real nice Red 04 at a great price. He's got all the exterior spoilers, something like 10k miles, and asking $26K.

I just purchased an MY00 for 24500. [Keep in mind that's Canadian $$$.] S's are certainly much cheaper in the States, however after looking into it, there seem to be a huge number of American S's with salvage titles and it seemed waaaay too much of a hassle to import. I could have saved some money going south, but IMO it just wasn't worth it! Overall, I think I found a decent deal.

i went in for a test drive yesterday, and i must say i liked it. i didn't really push any limits or anything, but i think it would be a good daily driver. noise wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it would be...but i guess i only tried it with the top down. is it that much louder with the top up? acceleration wasn't a problem either. to me it seemed that the S2000's acceleration was better than my 94 base eclipse...so as long as it's not worse than that i'm happy.

anyway, the guy tried like hell to sell me the car even though i told him i wasn't interested in buying that day (i'll go back in a week or two when i get my financing figured out)...it was funny, he tried to sell me the car for $300 x 60 with interest, TT&L included ($18k total)...i said sure...came back and gave me some offer that was like 6 or 7k more. it was probably still a good deal but i wanted to go home and run some numbers first.

i took a look at capitalone and their rate is pretty good. i'm gonna try and get the car for ~$20k before TT&L. thanks for the help guys...anymore comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

oh yeah, this is an '02 suzuka blue w/22k miles.
