winter driving
I decided to purchase my first rear wheel drive open top sports car in one of the worst winters in New England history. What is even more laughable is I sold a very winter-capable Subaru WRX in order to buy the S2000. Not t mention I live atop a giant hill on a road that was once a cow path. Did I mention I commute a total of 120 miles per day to work and back?
With the odds stacked up against me for any chance of safe winter driving I thought to myself I must be nuts.......but there is a happy ending to this story........armed with a set of Blizzaks the S2000 was more capable than my neighbors Honda Accord. The same Accord that on one snowy day struggled to the top of my hill losing traction every inch of the way. My S2000 was forced to stop at the steepest part of the hill while my neighbor slowly made it to the top. I was able to start again from a complete stop without getting stuck.
The moral of the story is for those who are thinking about an S2000 and need to drive it all year, do not be afraid of the snow. With the proper set of tires you can make it through most snowy conditions.

Please assist those of us who have known this from the very beginning to keep this a secret!
We just love it when someone posts to say, "You can't drive the S2000 in the snow and ice!"
It's has always provided us with such great laughter.

The day I took delivery of my '03 silverstone was the day before the first snowstorm to hit the NY area this winter. The car was useless. It wouldn't even get out of my parking space at work.I was forced to get a Saab 900 to get me through the winter months. I couldn't take the chance of wrecking my s2000. I wouldn't worry about me, it was everyone else I was concerned about.

As far as driving comparison, I can't help much. We didn't get ANY deep snow in Sheridan this year. When it did snow, I drove my Prelude. I haven't driven my wife's Accord in the snow at all. My Prelude has Yokohama Guardex 600 or 660 tires. It will get WS-50 tires next time, if there is a next time. These tires are holding up well. I don't travel much in the winter. I just bought the Prelude a set of four Dunlop SP5000s for summer/"all weather."
As far as physical comparison, I'd be happy to help. I'll do that this morning and report back. I'll grab a pic or two if I can.
