Can I solicit some feedback on winter driving? I don't have a S2000 yet, hopefully I will very shortly, living in the Northeast, I was wondering what experience some owners have had in the snow and slippery conditions. I plan to use this as my primary car (w/hard top) and my commute will be very short.

Also, does anyone here know why White cars are so difficult to find?

Any feedback on Dealers in the Princeton area?

All advise is welcome, the more I know, the better choice I'll make.

Thanx.

You won't have any trouble with winter driving if you use snow tires. I like the Blizzak MZ-01 best but some have chosen a less aggressive tread with better highway performance. I think the MZ-01 tire is the best at STOPPING on ice and packed snow.

Do a search. There are several threads discussing this with lots of pictures.

The hardtop is GREAT! It includes a large rear window and an electric defroster.

See, it's like this.....white cars blend in real well with the snow and.........(sorry, couldn't resist).

Like what Barry said. I've just done one winter in this car and it's a blast. I got a second set of wheels for the snow tires just so I can do my own changes when needed. Hardtop is a must. You don't want to be brushing snow or scaping ice off the plastic window. Just plug it in when the temp. gets down there or you'll probably have to crank it a second time.

As the roads are coated with 2" of ice, I couldn't imagine driving the S2K in Anchorage during the winter, which lasts WAY too long BTW. Also, what does your city put on the roads during the winter? Anchorage puts pumace (volcanic rocks) which presents a chip/dent hazard. (my stook takes the winters off!)

They have better municipal snow & ice removal in Calgary and in WY if those guys are driving!

Good Luck, should be sporting -

PS - the dealer here in Anchorage has a White/Red 2001 at MSRP (and no sales tax in AK). You can ship it to Seattle for around $600.00, then have an excellent road trip back east.

Cheers -

Got a couple words for ya:

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 1.

That, my friend, is one hell of a snow tire!! I have them on my Impreza, got 'em in February. I'm in New Hampshire, so usually have more severe weather than you'll see, but they're awesome. Nokian's one of the better winter tire companies out there, I think.

They now produce the NRW, a winter-but-also-all-season tire that's meant for more highway driving. Those'd be a good bet for you....check it out!

Siper2,

I think Bassman tried that tire (Hakka 1)with really bad results.

The NRW is a super tire (I run them on my Volvo) but does not come in 225/50 16.

Nokian in general makes very high quality products (I also have their bicycle tires on one of my bikes).

The winter tire to go with (IMO) is the Bridgestone LM 22.
Come in OEM sizes, feels like the S02, grabs well, and can run at high speed.

I'm still on my LM-22's. They are remarkably close to the S-02 in feel, but really grab at snow and textured ice.
