Default Winter Storage, How??

I recently purchased and installed a h-top, which by the way is just killer... fit and finish, huge window, quite, etc.

I have questions for some of you other northerners about winter storage.

1. If sitting for an extended period in ~zero degree temperatures should I remove the hardtop and put up the convertible top so as to avoid permanent creasing or malformation of both the rear window and top itself?

2. Since there are many days even here in Wisconsin throughout the winter where the roads are clear of snow and/or salt is it best to get it out on these days even if it is infrequent as opposed to just letting it sit for 3 months??

I had a '78 Vette Pace Car and just let it sit (on car stands) and every spring had absolutely no issues over a 12 year period

Thoughts.....

Thanks

Why store it for the winter????

Those are just wasted months you could be driving your S2K around!

You might also try a search on 'winter' or 'storage' or 'mouse', last month we really got into this rather seriously.

I'm originally from the North, and if you're not going to put it on stands, and off of the ground, I'd take it out for a short spin at least every month, so you don't get any flat spots on your wheel bearings. Starting the car every few weeks is also nice to keep your battery charged up, and seals all lubed up too. As far as the issue of keeping your soft top folded up, while hard top is on through the winter..... I wouldn't think it would cause any kind of damage or permanent creasing, but I haven't done it, so I'd hate to advise you on this one. Later, Kevin

PS - there's also the issue of auto insurance. I switch to comp only during the stoage months (almost no cost), but that really doesn't leave me the option to take it out when I want, until I'm ready to switch back for summer.

I found all I was looking for and more in the Upper Midwest forum. Thanks for the tip, and consider this thread dead!

I take it out just as long as there is no snow on the roads - just have to watch the colder temps with the tires. If it's sunny and over 40 degrees, I even drive top down and heat on full blast.
