Besides keeping blades clean, another way to improve visibility is by taking a very fine grit sand paper (400 grit or higher), and gently sanding each blade in one direction only. A quick rinse of the blade afterwards to remove any sand particles that may otherwise scratch the glass, and HEY PRESTO! Like new blades.
