Default wire wheels like in Jags or Alfas

Has anyone tried wire wheels on s2000? I really like those classic roadsters and wondering how those wheels would like on s2000 (which will be in the same category within 20 years).

You can see an awesome Jag with wire wheels in the link below.

Hi Emre -

I don't recall anyone putting wire wheels on an S.

I agree that they look very nice on old Jag's, Triumphs, Alfa's and the like but am not convinced they would look right on an S.

Besides, as I understand it, real wire wheels are heavy as hell, require a boat load of upkeep, and don't really aid in brake cooling all that well. None of those traits are good, IMO.

Theyd be very heavy, and IMO, would look horrible on a modern-looking car like the S2000.

I loved them on the old roadsters, but that was then. I think todays wheels are so much better in every way.

I raised this subject on this forum long time ago, consensus was they are high maintenance, could be easily damaged, or expensive. There are several custom manufacturers of these wheels in the US. I think they will look good on the S2000, but could be heavy. Do a search.

Odd, when I had a 65 TR-4 (wires), I tried very hard to find a set of Minilites (mags). Reasons as given here, hard to maintain, easier to damage, and a nightmare if you had a flat. Tubed tires then, and the wires wouldn't fit on most tire machines. So grab the spoons and do the work by hand.

Don't do it.....it just doen't go. This style of the rim is too old fashion for the S. To be honest I wouldn't of considered this in a million years. Well my 2 cents anyway.
