wood trim
Before my car was delivered, long before it was delivered, and before I had seen or driven one, I thought about the wood trim or the brushed aluminum trim. I even bought the brushed aluminum kit and spent hours working on it to improve the appearance. When my car was finally delivered, I began to have serious doubts about touching the dash and disurpting its minimalist look. Now that I've had the car for six months, I'm glad that I waited. I love it just the way it is. The panel is totally focused on the driver with no gimmicks, no chrome, no unnecessary decoration. So now my brushed aluminum kit is doomed to collect dust in my basement.
Thanks a lot guys. All this wood bashing has probably scared away the only dude on this board with pictures of his s2k with wood trim. I know you're out there. Don't be shy now. Post your picture so I can decide for myself. I'm damn stubborn, so I don't listen to anybody. Even if millions of people post their objections to wood trim, I would still consider it an option along with other dash kits available for the s2k. I still want to see what it looks like.
Ha ha, no one is down with the wood...
I bet there's some guy out there taking of his wood trim right about now. I don't know why it's that offensive. I see so many cars with black leather interiors and wood trim. It looks good there. The BMW I was going to buy had that, and it looked hella good. I'm not convinced that it's going to be as hideous as everybody says. I doubt if anybody's going to post their picture now. Think of the ridicule they'll be subjected to. Oh well, whatevers...

Seriously, I remember one Japanese company making a wood trim and they had pics of it on their website. There are pics of it in the Hyper Rev book (Which Red Devil S2000 still has of mine *ahem*). I'm pretty sure Giampiero (MG Racing) can help you out.

One more reason that those wood kits are bogus (same with the carbon fiber ones also). On the old Brit sports cars such as the MG-TC, TR6, Spitfire, etc.. the dash was really made of wood it was not just a veneer. It actually was structural and held the guages, etc... These kits just stick wood over the existing structural part so they are for show only. The carbon fiber ones are really lame. If the dash were really MADE from carbon fiber it would be great because there would be a reason for it to be there,...it would weigh less. To ADD carbon fiber ON TOP OF THE EXISTING PARTS just adds weight which is exactly opposite of what carbon fiber is intended for. That is a real attrocity IMHO.
It can be argued that with a car as purposful as the S2000 ANYTHING put on it for "Show" only goes against the design philosophy of the car.
