I wrote a comment on his review. I think I summarized things pretty well.

I wrote a review on Epinions.com regarding my 2001 S2000. It's a bit more flattering than the other one.

He said he wanted comments about his review. I emailed him and told him what an idiot he was. pavshow@aol.com

I wrote to him
"You don't know how much people are making fun of you right now. You definately need to do reviews on Ford festivas' and Chevy Metros' before you step up to the S2000. You wanted comments so I had to leave you one.

ps - I hope your review was seriously a joke."

Hahahaha

He replied.

Thank you for your comments on my review. The review you have questioned is a review by SpeedyKangaroo, written about the Honda 2002 S2000. The account you're speaking about is actually a joint account by my partner and myself. We represent the Online Ventures Division of Speedy Kangaroo Enterprises, an eastern PA based company.

I have forwarded your comments and exact email in unedit/unchanged form to my partner. You can reach him personally if you wish to do so at dennisgoldston@yahoo.com. I'm sure he appreciates your comments, as I would appreciate some on my own reviews. If you yourself contribute to Epinions.com's Online Opinion Service, please write me back a user idea and I'll be sure to take some time to view your opinions.

On a last note, this review was not a joke. It wasn't written by my partner, Dennis Goldston, who has to my knowledge, taken his review seriously. I personally have never taken the liberties of trying out the Honda S2000, but I understand it has recieved high marks from of a lot of auto reviewers. Although I may seem an outsider, I don't actually see the Epinions.com service as a "community". YOU may be making fun of me, Dennis, or the organization, but others are not. Not everyone rated my partner's review as a total waste.

As in any joint-partnership, I do some work to. I have not written as much as Dennis, but I have written two online reviews. I have added links in case you would like to view my own writing/reviewing abilities.

My Cell Phone Review
My OWN Car Review

Best Regards,
Kyle Pavlowsky
Head of Online Ventures, Speedy Kangaroo Corporation

P.S. Just to let you know, nearly this exact same email has been sent to a few other Epinion's users. I have forwarded all Dennis's mail to him, and as of August 12, 2002, I'm nearly positive he's caught up with his mail through the 5th. Thank you to all of you.

Id love to see the look on this guy's face when he checks his email inbox and sees it is full of hate mail from us.

P.S. Bernie Lomax- Dave Mathews is the coolest! I just saw him in concert on thursday and it was incredible!

I don't think that either of those reviews were really "out of line" or filled with ignorance. They were just from different points of view. They seemed to be reviewing it from more of an all-around vehicle point of view, looking at how practical the car is (or isn't), and their opinion on the car overall. I've been trolling this board for a year or so now, and from what i've read, all of the things they've listed as negitive points about the car on the boards, they have listed in their reviews. Lack of power under 6K.... i've heard some people on here mention that. I've heard it said before from people on here that the car is not perfect and not for everybody. If a few people give it less-than-perfect reviews, why send them hate mail and call them ignorant because they don't like certain things about your car?

Give them a break... they just wrote a review based on what they experienced with the car.

Well he based his review from an Economy point of view. Everyone knows that it was not built for that reason. Thats what the accord and civic is for.

I agree with not sending hate mail.... but when there are out-and-out errors and wrong information, they do more harm than good. No, this car is not for everyone, but unless you have driven one for a length of time, then you are not qualified to comment on it in my opinion!

For example: the one reviewer made some mention to "different consoles", that is, not the digital dash. As we all know, the dash has not changed and is not scheduled to change.

And the whole comparison to economy cars and family cars? That is so far out that it defies comment! That's like reviewing a toaster and lamenting the fact that it doesn't make good tapes.

And how could he make a comment on gas milage based on a test drive?? C'mon, this is just plain ridiculous! And then add in his comments about the S2000's resale value - how much misinformation could be in one review?

As far as the other reviewer, how can you make such sweeping generalizations based on a single test drive? I find the S2000 quite sufficient when driven sedately, I notice that even when I don't VTEC, I am the first one away from a stop light well ahead of the rest of the pack. I mean, what is he comparing the S2000 to anyway?

There should be a stipulation that you have to actually own the product before reviewing it.

Anyway, I usually don't go on a rant like this, but it burns me up when ignorant people try to influence others when they don't know what they are talking about....

There's one born every minute, unfortunately some of them write reviews of cars they know nothing about...

There is a review far worse than this one though, and written by a respected auto journalist from the Chicago Tribune if I recall correctly. Can't think of the reviewers name, I posted it on the old S2000 site so I no longer have access to it.

Basically this was some slightly older gentleman who showed an unbiased liking for Corvettes and thought the S2K was inferior in almost every way. I remember he was irritated by the short shifter throw in the S2K because it caught him by surprise, his arm kept going in a rearward direction, and he bashed it against the center compartment!

If anyone can remember this comedian and find the review I'd love to see it again, for old times' sake.
