worth it to buy warranty from dealer $2650
Purchasing a used 2008 S2000. It's obviously out of warranty, but has 20k miles on it. I'm buying from Honda dealer, but my question is if it's worth it to buy the Honda extended warranty from the dealer. They want $2650 for warranty for 5 years or 60k miles. Apparently covers everything but wear and tear including the top.
Do you guys think it's worth buying the extended warranty. I plan to keep the car bone stock. Are there cheaper options to buying an extended warranty? I think I read somewhere that other dealers offer the same warranty through Honda that's valid at all Honda dealers in the U.S. and Canada for a cheaper price.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I doubt it's a Honda warranty. Some dealer profit pack. Put the money in the bank.

Keep your money in the bank. Most expensive repairs won't be covered : locked up engine due to mis-shift, clutch, holes in the soft top. None of those will be covered. You are better off putting the same money aside. This car is generally VERY reliable.

+1 for keeping the money in your pocket. Depending on the mileage and condition, these cars have convinced me to be very reliable for the most part. My only issue in 6 months of ownership was a soft top hole that was fixed with a cheap patch.

Same for me when I got my 09 with 30K from a dealer. Said no three years ago, have 53K now. All I have done (stock car) is a Billman TCT (no noise-pre-emptive strike) and did my own valve job along with the rear axle re-torque.
Save the money for a new head unit and speakers.

Take it from me I'm a salesperson for Honda and sell cars and extended warranties for over 10 years ....... You DO NOT need an extended warranty specifically on an s2k!!! As far as reliability the s2k is just like a civic lx and it will not break on you as long as you use common sense lol As mentioned above the only things that cost more than $2600 on an s2k would be the engine and trans so unless you go full retard and drive it without oil or launch your car from a dig on a daily basis those parts will not break. Ive daily driven my s2k in NY and NJ since 2010 and till this day all I've had to replace was a faulty passenger side seat srs sensor which was about $300.. Not one damn thing has happened to my car in 6 years more than the $300 for the sensor so an extended warranty for an s2k is a waste as long as you use common sense and keep up with your basic maintenance.

Listen to these guys. I've had mine since 2003. Heavy autocross use and 60K miles. I have not had to do any repairs yet. Hell, I still have the OEM brake pads and battery in the car.
