Default Would you buy a salvage title s2k?

Hey guys,
So theres a salvage title 2005 s2000 on my local craigslist. They person says it was a rear end salvage with damage done to the rear bumper, tail light, and exhaust, but it was all repaired. The pictures look good. Everything looks new on the car, and the condition looks great. Everything is stock, and he says there are no problems and it runs great. The car also only has 79,000 miles on it, and he is asking $10,000. I was wondering if this is a deal worth getting. Thanks everyone. (If this is not allowed please let me know)

Not with the S I would not. It will probably never drive the way it should. At this point in life I will never mess with a salvage car unless I know what happened was not related to damage such as the car declared a loss as the seats were stolen.

I'd rather spend the money on something with a clean title. Unless you know exactly what you are getting into and are able to do deal with any unseen issues that may come up, I'd probably avoid a salvaged car despite its low price.

The only salvage s2k I would ever consider buying is one that had the top slashed and seats stolen. No collisions. Period.

I don't think the car would be declared totaled for damage to bumper, exhaust, and tail lights. Those are all bolt on. Would have to have damaged the non-removable body panels on the rear of the car. For $10k, you can find a better example.

Yeah! I bought one 3-4 years ago after the top was slashed, steering wheel and seats stolen, I bought the seats, steering wheel with airbag and fixed the top myself. Sold it after one year and broke even.

I'm willing to bet its worse than he is making it sound. The rear bumper was damaged probably translates to the rear crash bar etc was damaged fairly noticably if you take that bumper off

Take the trunk carpet out. That should give you a pretty good idea of how bad the impact was and quality of the repair job if you know what to look for.

Okay. Thanks everyone. I'm just going to wait and keep looking for a clean title.
