Getting an oil change......

...wanted to know if you guys recommend Royal Purple for DD applications?

I was sure this thread was going to be about painting a car purple.

No real experience with Royal Purple, but it seem like for that price, you could get a known good synthetic oil instead (Mobil 1).

Mobile 1 10w30. 5qrts for $19.95 at walmart, sixth is another $5.

I would not really recommend Royal Purple. It's a good oil but for the price you can get much better, such as Amsoil and Red Line...

ive been using strictly mobil 1 but just put RP in during the last change. Its definitely not bad oil, and the placebo effect tells me I gained that 1 or 2 hp, haha

Royal Purple is to oil as Monster Cable is to electronic cables.

It works just fine but is WAY overpriced and is the same thing as the "lesser" brands.

Waste of money personally.

I have had some bad experience with this brand. it tends to cook if you do not change it more frequently than 3K. it is basically a race oil and race cars get oil changes after every run basically.

it is expensive and like said above there are better choices for our car IMHO.


clean 5000 is a good oil for DD
