Yes, I am new to this site and if I had been aware of this site prior to my purchase of 02 Suzuka Blue I could have benefited from additional savings. An annual membership would greatly improve/establish our S2000 community.

I can assure you that the first time visitor will see the site almost exactly as it is now. I'm WAY too lazy to make anything approaching a "lite" version. Things that will be different:

- MyS2000 will be scaled back, there won't we a photo album link under the start button and instead of buddy and ignore lists, subscribed forum and threads you will see your new PMs (if any) and a big huge ad touting the additional benefits paying members get.

- When you post, the email notification option wont be there.

- There will be a cap on the number of posts you can make in a 24 hour period (PPD), something like 20, not sure.

That's it. I can't think of anything else that would be different. Most of the members have never used those features (the casual users) nor post more than 20 posts a day so they aren't going to be missing much if anything. I suspect most people won't have a clue that any changes have been made.

Calculating your total posts comes out to around 10,234 posts since you became a member. I can imagine how much hard disk drives cthree had to add just for you! J/K

A couple of comments from urs truly:
  • First, I'm happy I read through all the posts/views offered prior to making a snap-decision regarding a vote.
  • Second, I voted "YES"...as I would have even prior to having viewed everyone's posts.
  • $20 or $50/yr is pigeon feed for the opportunity to socialize with such enthusiastic folks as this site draws.
  • While I talk with members from Atlanta to New York to Canada and to Australia...the fact is, this site has given me an opportunity to easily communicate and organize events with folks even right around the corner from me...and across state lines. This line of communication is simply invaluable IMO.
  • To the last point, without this site, I would only "have a sportscar"...rather than be an enthusiastic "S2K Dork" that keeps my work mates in stitches and amazement as to my love for this automobile and its owners/enthusiasts.
  • Frankly...my parents raised me to be grateful for that which is given to me. Some have posted here something to the effect, "...I'd be disappointed if I were to pay for something that others receive for free." Hey, to each his own opinion, I guess, but IMO I ask "WTF?!!!" The question to ask is not "Why's he get it free & I pay?"...the question should only be, "Am I personally getting something worthwhile out of this site, and do I appreciate that enough to offer its site-owner financial repayment for same?" For my experience on this site & with its members, that last question is a no-brainer...
  • Although cthree is not heading down that road anyway, I cannot fathom the idea of a "members only" area of the forum. Personally, I eagerly seek out new owners in my region and invite them to meet up with other owners (yeah, yeah...some folks have pinned the word "stalker" on me...so what!). I invite them to check out this site because it is damned good and offers a wealth of information to the new (and experienced) owner. As a "my feedback" to posts in this thread, I personally would not desire a "members only" area.
  • Above point stated, however, I *would* like to see something attached to the area of my Avatar that would let those viewing posts know that I support this site financially as well as socially. Hey, I said my folks raised me to be grateful...but they never said I had to do it anonymously! And all joking aside, IMO it is *that* additional little information found in mine (and other supporters) avatar that might additionally advertise to new members that this site accepts donations to keep it successful.
  • ...oh yeah...[came back to add one more thought]...A number of times I've done S2K searches on the World Wide Web [sounds kinda neat when you say the whole mouthful like that!]. Know what? Mebe I perform incorrect searches, but my results say there ain't too many focused sites out there. None as professional as this one for our car...and those that *do* have forums and such offer our car as simply a tack-on to other models of cars supported on their sites. Bleh! This site fills my interests corner-to-corner.

...Welp, folks know that I could ramble on forever...but the fact is I am extremely grateful to cthree for the opportunity to have met such a great community of folks. I enjoy organizing meets with its owners...and I simply could not have done so without its content/value. Thank you cthree! Keep focusing your intentions...you are on the right track and you have my support.
